CoachCheck independently checks a defined set of professional coaching certifications and credentials against the issuing body's public registry. The credentials we verify are: ICF (International Coaching Federation) — ACC, PCC, MCC; NBHWC (National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching); NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine); ACE (American Council on Exercise); CFP Board (Certified Financial Planner); SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) — SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP. For these credentials, a Verified (✓) badge means CoachCheck has confirmed the credential against the issuing body's registry at the time of verification. Verification is point-in-time — credentials can lapse; we re-verify periodically but cannot guarantee real-time accuracy.
Professional degrees (MBA, PhD, MD, JD, and equivalents) are not verified. CoachCheck cannot defensibly confirm academic credentials and does not display them as verified. Experience claims, achievement claims, testimonials, social following, revenue claims, and client outcome claims are not verified and are not displayed as CoachCheck-confirmed. Certifications outside the list above are self-reported.
Credentials outside our verified set may be submitted by a claimed coach and will display as "Submitted by coach · not independently verified." These are not endorsed or confirmed by CoachCheck.
Verified (✓): CoachCheck has confirmed this credential against the issuing body's registry. Partial (◑): some submitted credentials have been verified; others are self-reported or could not be confirmed. No credentials on file (✗): no credentials have been submitted or verified. This does not mean the coach is unqualified — many effective coaches hold no formal certification.
Coaches with an active Engaged Coach subscription may submit credentials for verification. Allow 14 business days for verification. To correct an inaccurate credential display, email hello@coachcheck.co — corrections are reviewed within 7 business days.
